The Revelation of Vienna Ensemble Pro

This week has been rather eye opening with some new software.
For a long time now we have been developing our instrument templates with more demanding, and quality sample libraries.
A side effect of adding deeper sampling to our writing palettes is that it uses a lot of memory.
We run a top of the line machine for our DAW scoring that can handle just about anything, but when it comes to writing with a template of 500+ instruments even 192GB RAM takes time to load/unload.
The integration of VSL’s Vienna Ensemble Pro software into our workflow has become an excellent cross-platform network solution to improve our efficiency dramatically, and includes functions to “Preserve” all the plug-ins and samples loaded while switching from one project to another – a huge time saver!
Now we are able to flick between projects as well as confidently take on larger projects in more efficient timeframes. A win all round!
We run on:
Intel Core i9 14900K 24 Cores, 32 Threads, 3.2GHz, 6GHz Turbo (16 Performance Threads, 16 Efficient Threads)
Gigabyte Z790 Motherboard 4x USB2 6x USB3
192GB DDR5 6000MHz RAM (4x 48GB)
…and a whole load of SSDs
