In search of his missing dog, a desperate man stumbles upon the den of a long-forgotten predator.
For Deerstalker we have designed the score around a single cello, layered, distorted, and blended into an eerie organic setting. A focus on distance and aperture to build tension through the cello is a key feature for this film. By moving the recording distance incredibly close when the Deerstalker is inches from the protagonist it gives the impression of closeness before we even see where the creature is.
Working with the director we were able to give a sense of height and positioning with low oscillating rumbles for feeling the Deerstalker underground or birdlike 'chips' for stalking from the treetops.
